Product Review: Trader Joe’s Tomato Paste

My love for Trader Joe’s is well known to my friends and family so much so they call it my second home:) What’s not to love about the store? Their products are great and are reasonably priced. And isn’t there something cute about the Hawaiian shirts and bells in the store? What attracted me to the store first was its size. Its under 10000 square feet, a size I can live with shop with than those 45000 square feet large stores.

Anyway today’s product is tomato paste. I know you must be thinking what’s there to review in a tomato paste? I can’t tell you how much i love the way its packaged in a tube. I have only seen cans of tomato paste in the stores. After using a teaspoon or two I would store the rest in a ziplock bag in the freezer and then forget about them. I would go and buy another can and repeat the process and end up with a zillion bags of left over paste:) So when I saw this in a tube I thought it was pretty neat. I can just squeeze some out and store the rest in the fridge. How convenient is that?  Priced at $0.99 for a 4.93oz/140grams tube its definitely worth buying and stocking this in your pantry. It contains tomatoes and water. Tomato paste is made from tomatoes cooked for few hours and strained and reduced to a rich paste. A dollop of this adds great color and taste to food.
