We had this for breakfast on Sunday and all I can say is I was speechless. Yumjay and I are big fans of almond croissants and we don’t mind the 12 mile drive to The French bakery for a cup of cappuccino and almond croissants. Now we can have the same rich buttery goodness in the comforts of our home. This is definitely not for those quick grab and go breakfast mornings. This is meant for a lazy weekend morning where you sit down in your PJs forever relishing your breakfast. All you have to do is remember to remove them from the package the previous night and let him sit on a lined baking tray all night . You have the option of sitting in your kitchen and waiting all night to see these beauties rise as they thaw or just go to bed dreaming about the beautiful croissants you can devour in the morning. Next morning, preheat oven to 350F and bake them for 25 minutes and make your favorite coffee or tea while waiting for the oven to beep.
The crispy, buttery crust gives way to the soft, flaky insides filled with rich, sweet almond paste and the toasted almonds on top adds a nice crunch. At 340 calories and 11 grams of sugar per croissant, this is great for an occasional weekend indulgence. Priced at $3.99 for 4 croissants, it definitely beats the price of any bakery where you may get one croissant for the price of this entire box. You could add powdered sugar on top as suggested on the box but we liked ours without it. You can find them in the store freezer along with other desserts.
