This is another highly addictive product from Trader Joe’s. They have organic and regular versions. I bought the regular ones to taste and i couldn’t stop with one serving. It contains bananas, coconut oil, sugar and natural banana flavor. Although it says “dried fruit banana chips” on the package, the company folks confirmed that it deep fried, and the coconut oil used is never refined. This is kind of misleading but I guess they are better than some other greasy snack products available in the market.
An 8oz bag has about 8 servings and each serving has 160 calories and 3 grams of sugar. It is priced at $0.99 per 8oz bag and can be found in the dried fruit section of the store. These banana chips taste great straight from the bag, but I like them better in a trail mix. Here’s a recipe for a simple trail mix with trader joe’s nuts and dried fruits.
1/4 cup trader joe’s dry roasted and unsalted almonds
1/4 cup trader joe’s dry roasted and unsalted pistachio nut meat
1/4 cup trader joe’s 50% less salt roasted and salted whole cashews
1/4 cup trader joe’s dried cranberries
1/4 cup trader joe’s banana chips
1. Take all the ingredients in a big bowl and mix well.
2. Store in an airtight jar.
